Surgery
Surgery

When the time comes for your pet to undergo a surgical procedure we want you to to be informed.  Our veterinarians utilize equipment and anesthesia products that we feel are the best available.  Sevoflurane anesthesia is our main anesthetic agent. For decades we have used inhalation anesthesia products because we feel they are the safest.  Our surgical team consist of a doctor and a surgical technician.  The team is with your pet at all times during the procedure, and state of the art monitoring equipment is employed to assist the team with constant monitoring of your pet's vital functions. Heart rate, Respiration, Blood Pressure, CO2 levels, and Blood Oxygen levels are continually monitored.  Thermal warming devices are used to keep our patients warmed during the procedure.

Laser Surgery is here!

We utilize a state of the art laser surgical unit for many of the surgical procedures we perform.  Use of a CO2 Laser during surgery will speed the recovery of almost any surgical procedure. Many procedures are performed with a laser in lieu of traditional surgical techniques in order to reduce bleeding, and swelling.  Lasers cut with a beam of light and nerve endings are sealed in the process.  Pets wake up with less pain!  Lasers seal blood vessels reducing bleeding, and they seal lymphatic vessels reducing the potential for post-operative swelling.  Ferguson Animal Hospital Surgeons use Lasers for many of our procedures.  Feline Declawing is done exclusively with our Laser unit.
